Cover Your Seat!

Okay. So I've seen covers for stools or "cozies".

And I have LOTS of stools. (What?! They come in handy as extra tables or seating. If you don't have any, you should!)

I've been pondering some sort of stool cover, maybe like a doily. More open and lacy. This is my first attempt. It's a modified round granny square I found somewhere. Can't remember now which book I found it in. I've changed it quite a bit so I guess it doesn't really matter now.

I like how it looks from the top. Wanted something removable, but was lacking in the elastic department at the time. Went with a tie on. The cover is too "open" so it stretched out quite a bit. But it was just a prototype. The next one will be better...

Me?! Quiet?!

...I am. Not much blogging right now.

I'm busy integrating a new kitten to the household and "reorganizing" for the arrival of the BF. But I can show you the kitten:

This is Erebos. As in the Greek god of darkness & shadow. There's a long story as to why the names works. He's was hiding in a tire. Under a car. After dodging traffic.

He's a handful.

Dragons!

I found this fabric and immediately fell in love!
Oh, it's hideous! But I don't care. I love eet!
I knew these dragons would make a great purse!

Using this Reversible Purse pattern from Martha Stewart's website, I combined it with a nice, bright fuchsia. I doubt I'll use the solid-colored side, but I wanted it to be pretty inside, too. (Please see pattern note, below.)

* If you choose to attempt this pattern, please note that it doesn't tell you to flip the template over when cutting the second matching piece from each fabric. Read the comments. You'll see what I'm talking about.

I *heart* Lotta

Lotta Jansdotter.

Yes. I love a Swede.
Okay, I don't "love" her. I love her work. So simple and elegant.

The idea for these kitchen towels comes from her book, Simple Sewing. The ones I made are not Lotta fabrics, but they were the inspiration.

I am SO making more of these!

Seriously, people ... they're E-A-S-Y. Better than store bought as you can pick your own fabrics. Anything you want. And now that my machine has been serviced, I zipped these through in like a minute each.

Awesome.
